Introduction to Osteoporosis Fitness

  • Dragonfly Wellness Center 176 Jackson Road Devens, MA, 01434 United States (map)

This 6 week in-person course is for anyone with Osteoporosis or Osteopenia. It runs on Tuesdays from 2:15-3:15 pm, November 5-December 17 with no class on November 26

**This course is a prerequisite to Osteoporosis Fitness classes at Dragonfly Wellness Center

Studies have shown that resistance, weight-bearing and impact exercises help to build bone density. While exercise is a critical factor in improving and maintaining bone health, not all exercise is created equal when it comes to building stronger bones. For those with osteoporosis and osteopenia, it’s crucial to learn the best ways to move to avoid fractures and injury.

Discover tools and information you need to take charge of your bone health to improve strength, flexibility, posture, balance and body awareness. For all the things we do each day, this class provides evidence-based exercises and techniques as well as discussions on nutrition, posture and safe movement.

This combination course of lecture, discussion and exercise will provide participants with knowledge and confidence to move well and safely with osteoporosis in life and in exercise. This class is appropriate for those comfortable moving for up to 45 minutes and getting on and off the floor. Options and modifications can be provided as needed.
