Karen is trained in the Raja tradition of Hatha Yoga. She received her 200 hr Yoga Instructor certification from Diane Featherstone of Frog Pond Yoga Centre in Princeton, and is a RYT with the Yoga Alliance. Her style of teaching integrates traditional Yoga philosophy founded upon Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras with Yoga asana from the lineage of Krishnamacharya. Additionally, she received certification in the Yoga Warrior International™ method from Lucy Cimini, of Central Mass Yoga in West Boylston. YWI™ classes for Veterans include positive affirmations, yoga postures, breathing, and relaxation and focuses on a relaxed pace in a safe and nurturing environment. Karen’s goal is to help you restore balance through the practice of Yoga. As a 26 year retired Army Veteran, she is especially interested in using Yoga to mitigate the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to afford the body the opportunity to achieve a balanced state. Karen currently teaches the Foundations of Yoga I course at Mount Wachusett Community College, Devens. She is also a Yoga instructor for a VHA research study examining the effects of Yoga for the treatment of low back pain in the Veteran population. Karen holds an A.S. Degree in Complementary Health Care from Mount Wachusett Community College, as well as B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Physical Education from the University of New Hampshire.
