Posture, Presence and Pilates

Do you feel as though you’ve always had poor posture?  Most of us don’t realize how integrated posture is with the function of our internal organs, breath, alignment, and balance.  When one establishes proper posture, many of these other elements improve and find equilibrium.  This class will focus on movement that brings awareness to posture, and will integrate Stott Pilates exercises with floor barre and yoga exercises to improve posture, mobility, flow and alignment.  Props are used to add challenge.

Stott Pilates exercises strengthen core muscles, improve posture and alignment, restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints. Through developing awareness of one’s body,  students learn to maximize physical output without sustaining injury.  Modifications allow the technique to be appropriate for many different body types and abilities, making it applicable to individuals with adaptive needs, sport-specific training and everyday life. This class is offered in sessions only (no drop ins) because each class builds upon the techniques learned in the previous classes.
